Apple Watch Series 2: Release date, price, specs and how to pre-order

Vox:

Today, Apple announced the first sequel to the Apple Watch, which itself is the first big new product line that Tim Cook’s Apple created. It’s powered by an S2 system on a chip that features a dual core processor that they say is 50 percent faster than the old one, plus a new GPU that delivers double the graphics performance.

So – will you get one?

  1. Nope. I have what they’re calling the series 1 and, while I think this is a good upgrade, it’s not enough to make me sell that and get this one. But then I planned to skip to the 3rd version anyway.

  2. Much more compelling that the original IMO. Feels like the iPad 2 of Apple Watch – ie the one that people buy in volume (and Apple doesn’t push off the obsolescence cliff).

  3. Did I miss it, or was nothing mentioned of battery life? That leads me to think there’s no improvement or, pessimistically, a reduction, in battery life.

That remains the primary issue that would keep me from getting an Apple Watch.

  4. Probably not. I carry my phone not only for GPS, but for listening to Podcasts while working out. And since i can’t get podcasts on the watch (via my preferred Apple Podcast app lacking on the watch) then i still need the phone. The speed would be nice of the S2, but not enough to upgrade. And, i’m a Stainless buyer and already have plenty of sport bands and the milanese loop. So the stock options for the stainless are not desirable.

  5. it’s definitely a concern of mine even on the existing watch i own. I’m a 38mm user and all these speed improvements in watchOS 3 is a little worrying. Not to mention if Series 2 has no improvement, just think of what GPS will do to it.
