Apple introduces iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus, the best, most advanced iPhone ever

Apple:

Apple today introduced iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the best, most advanced iPhone ever, packed with unique innovations that improve all the ways iPhone is used every day. The new iPhone features new advanced camera systems that take pictures like never before, more power and performance with the best battery life ever in an iPhone, immersive stereo speakers, wide color system from camera to display, two new beautiful finishes, and is the first water and dust resistant iPhone. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available in more than 25 countries beginning Friday, September 16.

For the dual-lens camera alone I say, shut up and take my money.

  1. One rumor that hasn’t come true yet: Smart Connectors on iPhone. Makes no sense for iPhone yet, because a kbd that small wouldn’t work, and the Lightning port can handle charging and data transfer.

But next year, when the “all-glass” iPhone is released, will it have a Lightning port at all? If Apple adds some kind of wireless charging feature to the 2018 iPhones, that might reduce the need for Lightning as a charging option.

But what if you want to charge your iPhone in your car? Would you need to buy some kind of wireless charging pad/dock? Or a wireless energy emitter (for long-range wireless charging)? Or would the Smart Connector allow direct-contact wired charging?

I can’t wait to find out. But first, I’ll be pre-ordering my 128GB iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black at the crack of midnight Friday morning.

  2. To be fair, every iPhone they’ve ever announced was “the best, most advanced iPhone ever.” It’s not like they going to have much success if they say, “It’s not as good as the last one, but we think you’re really going to like it.”

  3. Yes, absolutely. I needed a better always-on-hand camera for a vacation I went on.

And I don’t really mind living with the iPhone SE for another year or two. We’ll see how my wife feels about her iPhone 5S once she gets iOS 10 on it. I know she wants my SE, because I bought Rose Gold just to fill her with envy.

No regrets either way here. Life is easier if you make a decision and stick with it instead of stressing over the chance you lost.

  4. With respect to photography, to the above dual camera feature, I’d also add a much better display, and, RAW capture and processing.

As a photographer, to me that combination of features is huge!

  5. “iPhone 7 is the most singular, the most evolved representation of this design.” – Jony Ive … Hints at definite new design for next cycle?
