Google updates Snapseed photo app for iOS w/ RAW support, new face editing tool, more

9to5Mac:

Google today has updated its Snapseed photo editing app for iOS with a handful of new features and improvements. The update bumps the app to version 2.9 and brings a new face editing tool, RAW support, and more.

First off, the update adds a new tool that will help users bring better clarity to faces in their images. Google says that this new “photogenic” tool will help users better focus on faces in images, as well as smoothen skin and add clarity to eyes.

Next up is support for RAW images.

Snapseed is my favorite iOS photo editing tool. It’s remarkably powerful yet still very easy to use.

  1. This got me really excited for a moment, unfortunately the only Fuji camera they support right now is the 5 years old X100.

Couldn’t yet find any information on whether they’re planning on adding support for the X-T1, X-T2, or X-Pro2.

  2. Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj251d:

  3. I fully agree with that “favorite iOS photo editing tool” part. Snapseed does everything I would ever want to do to a photo – fast and with great results. One of the best features are the sharpening tools, which totally give away the app’s heritage (it used to be developed by Nik Software, who did some great pro photo software such as Nik Sharpen).

When Nik got sold to Google I was afraid this would mean the end of Snapseed. In fact I was sure of it. And indeed, they did kill the Mac version, but thankfully kept the iOS app alive.

  4. Except that this user interface has nothing to do with Google but was part of the app long before the developers sold out.
