Bloomberg:
Apple is already at work on a major redesign of the iPhone for 2017 that focuses more heavily on the display by removing the Home button, according to a person familiar with the matter.
An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.
The sense I get from the article is that this is the follow-on to the iPhone said to be announced next month.
Interesting to watch Mark Gurman ply his trade for Bloomberg.
Each year Apple will remove one more item from the iPhone until it’s simply a battery in a plastic case.
Of course, it turns out via their links that “removing the home button” seems to really mean “making it a pressure-sensitive control rather than a physical clicky button”.
So it’s still a button in every meaningful sense.
If it’s true, which I don’t automatically believe from “a person familiar with the matter” from Bloomberg.
