The Loop reader Andrew Leavitt shared these pics of The Oculus Mall at the World Trade Center with us today. This is the same mall where the new Apple Store will be, although it was behind barriers when these pics were taken.

Any guesstimates as to when the Apple Store there might open?
I worked near that noisy, messed-up area for six years while the state government pretended to rebuild the site, high-level opportunists showed up to make meaningless speeches every September, low-level cornflakes clogged the sidewalks every day while handing out conspiracy theory pamphlets (and still do), and a group of people in genuine need of economic reform were treated like refuse as Goldman Sachs employees laughed their asses off.
If I can’t find a more efficient station stop to get into Manhattan through, I can certainly find other places to spend my money. That Apple store will do very well without it.
