This Apple Watch strap is business in the front, party in the back

The Next Web:

If you’re horrified by the idea of actually displaying your $299 (minimum) smartwatch, this genius has a solution — wear two watches, on the same wrist, at the same time. At first glance it seems like an asinine solution to a problem that could be fixed by just choosing a single watch, but as you look deeper you’ll discover: it’s still an asinine solution to a problem that could be solved by just choosing a watch.

The system is intended for those that admire the utility of Apple smartwatch, but aren’t necessarily keen on the tech-centric aesthetic. Now, you can use a shortened strap to combine two watches in typical mullet fashion — business in the front, party in the back.

Is it just me or does this seem like a really stupid idea?

  1. I have seen people wear their watches on the bottom of their wrists.. for some it is a preferred way to glance at their wrist. Might be a solution for those that want both. If Apple ever makes their watch really, really light, might work for some.

  2. Oh, I don’t know… If your intention was to get your Apple Watch scratched and dinged up quicker, this is a terrific idea.

  3. Since I have not worn a single one of my 7 (8, including an IWC pocket watch) analog watches since I got my Apple Watch, I obviously do not get it either. The Apple Watch (in steel at least, not a big fan of aluminum on the wrist myself) is actually a very nice looking watch with a great selection of bands to suit every occasion. I have not felt the need to hide it ever.

And let’s not get started on the practical aspect of having a piece of glass on the inside of the wrist and banging it against everything all day long…

Sinn is making some quality but ugly analog watches. And this piece of mockup gear got them more free press than they could have otherwise afforded… Let’s leave it at that.

  4. I haven’t worn either of my Rolexes since I got my  Watch way back in April 2015. But no. I would never get any dual-watch band. Especially not that Sinn.

  6. Likewise. Although I’d gotten out of the habit of wearing a watch daily, I have a dozen or so and love watches. Since getting the apple watch not only do I wear it daily but I’ve not worn any of the others since.

There are simply too many things it does exceptionally well to forego now… and these improve significantly with the next version of watchOS.

  7. This just shows how poor of a watch the Apple Watch is. I don’t mean it is a bad device, I am only referring to the telling time. I can’t count how many times I have lifted my wrist to check the time and the display doesn’t light up!
