Pokemon Go challenges Rio Games for popularity

Forget beach volleyball, soccer or tennis, not to mention the steeplechase or discus. Pokemon Go is challenging the Olympics for most popular game among some young Brazilians.

I find this to be sad.

  1. Why? Why place value on sports over other kinds of games? You don’t have to enjoy it to empathize with why others do.

In some respects, actively playing Pokemon is more of an authentic experience than watching someone else play or compete while you’re sitting passively in the stands or on your couch.
