What a pro.
Knopfler and Hendrix, my two favourite guitarists. Coincidentally both played Strats.
A HS buddy of mine is his bass player now. Maybe…
And here I was sitting here thinking “Well, who’s music should I put on now?”
Great pick. 🙂
Interesting having John Illsley talking with Mark.
Always loved Mark’s style of pickin’ I got to see him live twice, onetime I was in the 2nd row, his motions when playing is fun to watch.
Every band, every movie soundtrack, every concert Knopfler has been involved with is incredible. I love the soundtrack to the movie Cal, but also The Princess Bride and Local Hero. I love Neck and Neck with Chet Atkins, and so much more. The Notting Hillbillies. Incredible. The guy is a genius.
It should be noted that this is a clip from the 2012 Sky Arts 1 documentary series “Guitar Stories,” from their Mark Knopfler episode. (Search for “Guitar Stories Mark Knopfler” to find it online.) Definitely worth watching if you like the above.
Knopfler and May are my favorite guitarists. Both very talented and understand that style trumps techincality, that one well placed note sounds so much better than 50 careless notes.
