Earlier this year, we released two amazing new services: 1Password Families and 1Password Teams. Both rely on our new hosted platform to bring awesome new features that weren’t possible when 1Password was just a standalone app.
The response has been amazing and many of you asked for a special plan so you could also enjoy these benefits. We now have the perfect answer: our new service made for individuals!
I love 1Password. It’s installed on all of my devices and has been for quite a while. It’s a company I trust.
I can see why they are attempting to entice folks into a service. But I think the price for there service is why to high for what it is. I am using the stand alone app and syncing through drop box. It works great. I know with the service it would be even more flexible, but the monthly cost is to high for what it does. At least for me.
Thanks, Jim! Your kind words mean a lot to me and the team. ❤️
Hi Kriztyan,
If you prefer paying for software the ol’ fashioned way, you’re in luck as we continue to sell licenses in our store. We’re in a unique position where we are able to offer both and we’re happy to give you the choice 🙂
As for the price, our new subscription plan is the most affordable way to purchase 1Password as it includes all major upgrades for free. With licenses you need to pay for major upgrades and manage them across all your devices.
Simpler upgrades is one of the common things people love most about our new subscription service, but my personal favourite is the additional features we’re able to add that simply weren’t possible when without a hosted service. Things like item history and online access and secure sharing in Teams and Families necessitated having control of the whole system, which is where the idea for our service began.
Licenses are still great, especially for those who are not allowed to us the cloud, but they have their limitations as well. Again, this is why we’re happy we’re able to offer both so you can choose what works best for you 🙂
Cheers!

Don’t get me wrong, I love 1Password, I just rather stick with the payed option as opposed to the service. I am already roped in to the Adobe Creative Cloud, which is a necessity for my line of work, but I try to avoid software as a service as much as possible. Adobe pretty much took that option away and at this point I am to vested into Adobe solutions to look for alternatives. But reluctantly or not, the Adobe Creative Cloud has proved to be a good value, only because I use more than 5 of there applications.
