Record labels and artists are free to choose whether to allow their music to be available on streaming services. There are still some holdouts: Garth Brooks, Bob Seger, King Crimson, the Traveling Wilburys, Pete Townshend, and others are totally averse to streaming. And some artists only stream their music on certain services, as exclusives. This includes Taylor Swifts’ 1989, Adele’s 25, Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, most of Prince’s music, and much more.
But things get complicated when music that you have added to your iCloud Music Library from Apple Music is pulled. Labels can withdraw the right to stream certain songs and albums at any time, but you won’t be notified. You may see albums and songs in your library, but their titles are a slightly lighter color (depending on the view), and their iCloud status is No Longer Available.

What’s the big deal? It’s not like you paid for that particular song. It’s not your music. Wouldn’t this be news if you bought a song and then it disappeared?
I understand if this article is simply trying to inform. However, the “your” in the title is a strong word to describe it.

If the record companies pulled an album from Apple Music, but you bought (or borrowed) the physical CDs, then import manually to your library, will those manually imported tracks get pulled as well?
Ownership vs. licensing. I know which I prefer.
No argument there. I’m just glad we still have a choice. The trend seems to be towards removing ownership as an option.
I wish King Crimson would allow for streaming.

Depends on how old your cassettes are! My first tapes (pre-1975) were almost exclusively of pop radio broadcasts.
Guess what I do when an artist pulls their albums/songs from Apple Music. Guess. Just guess.
But… this is happening to people, including me, who have music in our iTunes library from CDs we bought, and it not showing up in iCloud Music, even though it should. This is about iCloud Music, not Apple Music. So this article is wrong.
What’s happening is the tracks don’t show up on your iPhone, and in iTunes the iCloud Status says “Unavailable.” But they should show up since it from your library.
