Taylor Swift continued her string of lip syncing commercials, this one to I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness.
Solid song. The overall concept is repetitive. Feels like a deal was made to deliver x number of these.

I hate this because I hate the song. I find it hard to believe there is real organic love for the song also and I think it’s a mistake for Apple because of that.
The falsetto singing is so bad it’s shocking. It isn’t integral to the song in any way and is performed badly. The falsetto runs at the end of lines are badly executed. It’s clear he didn’t really have defined what he was trying to sing. The song itself outside of that is totally forgettable.
This is a shame and a misfire.
@ChuckO, I somehow highly doubt that you are the target audience of this ad/clip.
Not sure what your point is. If Apple had picked the right song this could have felt universal. Instead they picked a bad song and it will fall flat for a lot of people and be just another ad.
The point is it is bad only in your opinion. Plenty of people will like, or at least not mind the song, and plenty further (particularly Taylor Swift’s fan base) won’t even have heard it before given it was released 13 years ago.
@ChuckO, I don’t argue against the fact that you hated that ad… You clearly did. My point is that the clip is aimed at the Taylor Swift/YouTube crowd – of which I’m guessing you are not a part of…
Nope your wrong. It’s a bad song. A songs popularity or lack of it doesn’t effect it’s quality. Whether I (or you) like it doesn’t effect it’s quality. I have a soft spot for many bad songs for various reasons, most sentimental but I don’t kid myself that they are good.
With an ad like this to register as something more than just another ad all the elements have to ad (bad pun not a spelling mistake) up.
In the past Apple has tried to make ads with some wit and creativity. This is more like another companies ad where cynicism rules or possibly to give Apple the benefit of the doubt bad taste.
So your saying Apple was being cynical in producing the ad and you’ve just taken the time to respond to me to point that out? Not to take issue of whether my assessment is in and of itself incorrect but just that I lacked the necessary cynicism to recognize what Apple was going for?
Final point. No statistically significant number of people throw on The Darkness’s “I believe in a thing called love” in that situation and that’s because it doesn’t bring you UP to another level it brings you DOWN because it sucks.
What’s with the lines shifting in the background? Did they edit this?

Love the song, it never fails to bring a smile to my face and a beat to my step. It is the perfect high energy song to dance around the house to and lift my spirits. It is fun pop rock, a Lou Reed ‘hit’ wouldn’t have quite the same effect.
Besides that I would say there is quite a crowd in Apple’s target demographic (student discount) that appreciates anything T-Swift.
I would think it would have to have been. Either that or Taylor Swift has some strange gravitational force?
I don’t see why they’d bother. I guess I need to look through it frame by frame to be sure, and I’m not nearly interested enough in Taylor Swift’s body to do that.
