This is a simple way to record a call. Are there laws against recording a call without someone’s knowledge?
I’ve not tried this, but I would never record a call without everyone on the call acknowledging they are cool with being recorded. This smells like trouble.

The law depends upon the state, some require all parties be notified that the call is being recorded, others only require one person be notified (this can be the person initiating the recording).
It is an easy moral high ground and say you should never record a call without the other person’s knowledge. However, there are cases where it is not only necessary, but justifiable.
Legality aside, there are good reasons why one might want to record a call. One is to avoid having to furiously take notes while talking to a customer, for example, so that you can focus on what they are saying and have a normal, uninterrupted, human conversation and avoid “uh, wait…can you repeat that? I was writing down your last point.” It can be very awkward or creepy to say “I’m going to record this call” when your intent is completely innocent. I’m not sure how writing down every word the person says is really any different, from an ethics standpoint, than just recording the call…this is the year 2016.
California only requires an audible beep, which is not mentioned on the website.
In Quebec, based on civil code, you can record a call if you participate to the call. You aren’t forced to warn other participant of the recording.You can used this recording in court to prove a verbal contract.
Building on that idea, I wonder what the legality of using a service that transcribes the phone call would be. Since you’re not recording the call, isn’t this the same as writing down the conversation?

Actually this isn’t specific to the iPhone. Any phone that can create teleconferences can do this.
