Allyson Kazmucha, writing for App Factor:
Action and share extensions have immensely changed how I use iOS over the last two years or so. Things that used to take me 3 apps and several minutes to accomplish can now be done in mere seconds and just a few taps.
If you aren’t familiar with share and action extensions already, there’s never been a better time to start using them. To get you started, here’s a list of some of my favorites and how I use them.
Solid list. Please add your own in the Loop comments. As a reminder, to get to a Loop post’s comments, click the infinity sign to the right of the headline. Note that comments work on the Mac and iPad, but not the iPhone.
and how absurd is it that comments dont work on iphone? this being an apple enthusiast site and all, it’s most unusual to treat iphone like a….how did Jobs put it? second-class citizen.
its why i dont visit The Loop from my iphone anymore — the comments and commenters are part of the product for me. the links alone are of secondary value.
other sites implement Disqus on iphone.
ps – this is also why it would be nice to have a comments count to the right of the infinity icon on the headlines (or at least on mouse-over) — so i know whether there is any additional value without having to click on the link to find out.
Kyron, thanks for taking the time to post this comment. This is a tough balancing act for us. We find that DISQUS on iPhone significantly increases load times for each post, enough of an issue to make readability suffer. We definitely would prefer to have comments everywhere, but we don’t want the quality of the site to suffer.
We are definitely painfully aware of this issue. The lack of comments on the iPhone is not something we want, it’s the best we can do if we stick with DISQUS (which we like).
greenandgoldrugby.com – nothing to do with tech, but they have disqus comments on all their posts (on all devices), no load issues and some of their posts are lengthy with images and embedded videos. hth
