Apple’s legendary Cupertino, California campus isn’t especially hospitable to unwanted visitors, as you might expect from a company famous for its secrecy.
There’s really only one place on the Apple campus that welcomes visitors: A small Apple Store, located right at 1 Infinite Loop, and open to the public.
But in addition to the standard selection of Apple gadgets, it’s the only place anywhere on Earth where you can buy a special selection of official Apple merchandise.
I love (and own a bunch of) the stuff at the Apple Campus Store and it’s always confused me why, when Apple knows how much merchandise they sell at that location, Apple doesn’t sell similar items in their retail locations or even online. I once asked Steve Jobs about it and he said, “We don’t sell t-shirts online because it devalues the brand….”
I picked up the mug and insulated bottle on eBay. It is too bad they don’t sell this stuff elsewhere. Last time I was at Apple the store was closed as well 🙁
I could go for a dark-colored logo polo, but then people would ask me tech questions wherever I went.
Oh… wait.
They also have a booth at WWDC where they have extra merchandise that’s specific for that year’s event 🙂

There IS another part of the Apple HQ that is open to visitors apart from the store (where the cordial employees always ask first for your Apple ID… the kind that is a plastic badge, of course): the public restrooms on the other side of the main entrance.

It may sound strange, but anyone doing a pilgrimage to Apple HQ ought to visit this and take a moment or two to reflect upon the way Apple has changed one’s life.
And yet, the store used to have so much more before the remodel. Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, t-shirts, hats, messenger bags, software, cases, and all manner of accessories. The new store is so much smaller…
