In an exclusive interview with ABC News today, Apple CEO Tim Cook told “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir that what the U.S. government was asking of the tech giant — to essentially create software enabling the FBI to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino, California, shooters — amounted to the “software equivalent of cancer.”
I love how fired up Tim Cook was in this interview, even if the interviewer asked some idiotic questions.
It’d be very interesting to see if this gets brought up at the rumoured Apple event in a few weeks time.
Methinks it’ll still be a live issue by the time WWDC rocks up and I can imagine a room full of developers being very ticked off at who is threatening their work and very proud of who they’re developing for.
I think Jobs would’ve just told the FBI to simply f**k off.
Cook is saying the same thing but with eloquence.
Looking forward to watching this.

Twas ever thus. This is what passes for “journalism” I’m, afraid. Endlessly re-framing the same question in increasingly emotional terms to get a different answer. And Tim Cook replied in kind by giving the same answer. Which I truly believe was deliberate. “You asked the same question. Here is the same answer.”
That was one of the problems I had with the interviewer – he kept asking the same questions in different ways. And Cook is too much of a Southern Gentleman to point it out.
That and the question about the poorly reported Pew Study and the unnecessarily emotional tone of, “What would you say to the victims about your support of terrorism?” line.
Funny how they never ask “what would you say to people affected by terrible laws made by frightened cowards based on the current fears and hatreds of the day?”
