In a nutshell, T-Mobile has long offered a 200 megabyte per month free plan for the iPad. I’ve got an iPad Mini that’s been using this plan from the start and I’ve never paid a penny for it. 200 Meg is not much, but if all you do is email and browsing, good to have. And 200 Meg for free is a pretty solid deal.

We use it on brief jaunts to other states when doing research. Occasionally, we supplement it with a 7-day data pass.
Beats paying for something we’ll rarely use otherwise.
I got my Mini with T-Mobile for exactly that reason.

Have had this since they launched it with the iPad Air. 75% of the time my iPad is sitting next to my bed where I have wifi. 20% of the time it is next to a bed at a hotel where I have wifi. 4% of the time I am out and about and even though something might be more convenient on my iPad, my iPhone suffices. But that 1% of the time, its good to know I have another solution ready at my beck and call 🙂
