9to5Mac:
Apple Watch is at the top of many holiday wish lists this year and luckily for gift shoppers it’s received numerous discounts since Black Friday. In fact, Target and B&H are both offering significant Apple Watch promotions right now.
This morning Best Buy jumped into the fray with the best straight up Apple Watch deal we’ve ever seen: $100 off any Apple Watch Sport or Apple Watch model. More than 20 different watch configurations are eligible for this discount.
This looks to be the sweet spot for Apple Watch pricing. It’s also interesting that these deals are coming from the stores and not Apple. Will the lower price encourage you to buy an Apple Watch this holiday season?
Oh man… My wife and I just bought two of them from the Apple Store on Thanksgiving weekend. Oh well, we love them and they were worth the price we paid.
That gives me pause to think m ore about it. I still don’t think I want to put a watch back on my wrist after not wearing one since the late 90s. But that price and the other features of it do make it worth considering now…
U.S. Only?
I believe that Apple typically has to be give permission to such discounts?
We’ll see what happens next year when a new watch comes out. Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac says he doesn’t think Apple will lower the price. It is interesting though that Apple seems to be ok with more discounts from 3rd party resellers these days. It’s not just the watch being discounted.
For me, and from what I’ve seen of the Apple Watch, $250 is still about $100 too high.
then you havent been looking very closely. its less expensive than the ipod when it came out and that only did one thing.
Not sure what that means. I have an original Pebble. It was $150 (Christmas sale a few years ago) and I think that was overpriced. It shows me the time, weather, and notifications– which is what the Apple Watch does. I’m waiting to see something that the Apple Watch does that is the “holy smokes, I need that!” feature. Again, for me, I think even $250 is too high for an Apple Watch.
did you pebble do excellent activity tracking? stand reminders? was it a wireless ipod? could you use it for mobile payments? did you routinely use it to adjust the lights in the house?
no. no. no. no. and no.
sounds like you paid the right price for it.
I wonder if this is related at all to rumours of an Apple Watch 2 in March. Perhaps it’s a way to clear out soon to be old inventory and boost sales numbers without slashing the regular price?
I wasn’t too keen on it until I heard stories like Jim’s about genuine health (life!) improvement. I’m still sitting out this generation (whatever the cost), and hoping v2 will really nail it – slimmer design, battery life improvements, etc. Then I’m in.
Money =/= quality. Have you seen the garbage that sells on iOS?
So? It generates a ton of money. Money is first objective for every business. Nintendo is not stranger to that
