That is one funky looking case. Did Sir Jony have anything to do with that?

They guy who put the camera lens bump on the iPhone did this, no?
It looks like a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.
Um, no.
I seriously had to check my calendar when I clicked on the link and saw the photos. For a moment I thought I woke up this morning on April 1st. Wow that is awful.
…. why?
If you cut open the hump, there’s a smaller iPhone hiding inside!
Andy Ihnatko:
If I worked for Apple and had been part of the design or marketing team, I would have pitched a killer idea:
“We will also make one in Teal. It will ship with no battery. That empty space will contain a little note that says ‘You can hide weed or LSD in here. If you don’t use recreational drugs, bring your case back to the Apple Store and we will swap it for either a black or white one. Plus, we’ll give you a $15 iTunes Store card as a token of our appreciation for your continued silence about the truth about the teal ones’.”
It’s not going to win any beauty contests but what battery cases do? And how many people outside of techies even use battery cases?
Sometimes it’s better to say “No!” to an idea!
I am dubious as heck about the bump.
I mean, less battery life than just making the whole thing thicker, to … what benefit?
Not sure I believe it’s easier to hold, or that people that’d want it are that weight sensitive, that this is the perfect sweet spot.
I kind of get why Apple designed it this way. I just don’t think it was a good idea, or really accomplishes what they want. It just makes the case look awkward and ugly.
My number one complaint with battery cases is how much thickness it adds to the edges. Because the edges are thicker, uniform thickness. Seems to me like Apple tried to maintain the FEEL in thickness of the standard iPhone case, by keeping the edges the same thickness as the normal case.
So I kind of get it. But I don’t think it works. Yea, the edges might not feel as thick, but you’re still going to be aware that its thicker in your palms.
In case anyone wasn’t already aware, Apple REALLY prioritizes how thick a product FEELS to hold. A little too much for their own good.
