Currently, it tells you to force restart to address this. Good that Apple is acknowledging the problem, good that there’s an official support page. Clearly, a force restart is just a stopgap solution.

That’s rather generous and a pretty low bar for “good”. Unfortunately, Apple does not have a good track of promptly acknowledging problems. This really bugs some of us.
Your second sentence sort of picks apart your first sentence. 🙂 We’d all like Apple to be more vocal about things like this, I think. But I’m tired of hoping a statement like this is the start of a new trend for them.
