Stephen Hackett, writing for 512 Pixels:
I look at this iPad Pro, being updated via my Mac, imagining the horses that were used to deliver materials to Henry Ford’s factory.
Did they know that by doing the very job they were tasked with, that they were ultimately dooming themselves?
I absolutely love this imagery. Add to it the Mac being used to create all the software that will make the mouse and trackball obsolete.
It’s a confusing analogy because … why is he using the Mac to update the iPad Pro?
Of course, horses would think of it as being liberated from being slaves to those two-legged animals. Now they can relax in pastures, eat grass, and run free.
The horses were “dooming” their children, actually. Same for the Macs.
Same for the countless industrial workers throughout the world whose manual labor has been diminished by the rise of the robots.
Beware. (It’s Friday the 13th, after all).
