Apple® today announced iPad Pro™ is available to order online on Wednesday, November 11, from Apple.com and will arrive at Apple’s retail stores, select carriers and Apple Authorized Resellers starting later this week. Apple Pencil™ and Apple’s new Smart Keyboard, also available to order on Wednesday, bring breakthrough levels of precision and utility to iPad Pro.
“The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad we’ve ever made, giving users the ability to be even more creative and more productive with the epic 12.9-inch Retina display, powerful 64-bit A9X chip and groundbreaking Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard. We can’t wait to see what they do with iPad Pro.”
The Apple TV went on sale at about 6a PT (9a ET). Wonder if the iPad Pro will follow this timing.
Apple tends to be very consistent with what they do, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Unless you pay extra for faster shipping, don’t have an Apple store close by, or just enjoy funding the logistics of a multi-billion dollar company, I wouldn’t bother pre-ordering. It won’t arrive until after the store release.
With my AppleTV, I pre-ordered Monday morning, it was released in-store on Friday, my pre-order shipped on Sunday, and arrived the following Wednesday.
Want to know when I can order from AT&T and if they will offer any special plans/pricing/terms.

ive pre-ordered other ipads in the past and received them on Day 1. just like iphones.

There seems (depending on who you believe) to be a chance of Apple not having enough supply to meet demand. I’d much rather pre-order and have it arrive a couple days later than get to an empty store or stand in a long line. Or have to wait a month if it gets backlogged… I got my Apple TV the same time you did and it gave me time to read up on reviews and learn about new features. I’d be fine with the same happening with the iPad.
Apparently I’ll be buying an iPad Pro for my sweetie this week. She loves drawing on her iPad and can’t wait to get her hands on it.
I do think this product will significantly uptick iPad sales.
So if my problem is a first world problem, what do you call a multi-billion dollar company’s poor logistics problem? Did you even think before posting or were you just here to argue?
It’s possible that because of the iPad Pro’s price, Apple will take orders with free shipping on Wednesday and ship them all next-day on Thursday so they all arrive on Friday along with store release. It’s possible.
I have my doubts on the iPad Pro being a mass market product that actually sells out, but you never know with Apple.
I too have my doubts, but thinking a little more about it, maybe this will sell better than the iPads of the past. Many people have gotten used to an iPad as being their primary “computer”.
If it’s more powerful and larger, that could be a lbigger attraction to people than apple initially expected.

I think there is a lot of pent up demand (from people like me, artists who either use or want to use the iPad like a Cintiq), I think the initial run will be lower as they ramp up, and I think @James Hughes:disqus has a point that it might be attractive to more than just artists (those people probably won’t be a huge part of the initial rush, if there is one). So I’m going to order mine online under the assumption that they will sell out quick 🙂 Been waiting ages for Apple to at least add APIs to hook a pen in properly, this is beyond expectations.
