Same thing happen to my Tag Heuer a few years back. It fell off the counter in the bathroom and landed face down.
Less than 24 hours after my wife got her space grey 38mm sport watch, our toddler nicked it just right with a paint roller he was playing with, causing similar damage. I immediately traded in my sport for a steel/sapphire one.
I’m slightly confused from the people saying they “upgraded” to the Sapphire one. The Sapphire one is better at scratch resistance but more likely to shatter. The ION glass in the sport is more scratch prone but less likely to shatter. So if you had a shatter concern, going to Sapphire would increase the likelihood of shatter the screen, not decrease it.
But Sapphire is less shatter-proof. The advantage of Sapphire is in its scratch resistance.
