Berkeley Breathed has brought back his popular comic strip “Bloom County” after having retired it 25 years ago at the height of its popularity. At the time, “Bloom County” was published in over 1,200 newspapers. Anthologies that collected the strip were best-sellers.
I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. Along with The Far Side, Bloom County was one of my favorite comic strips. It’s latest iteration has lost none of the sweetness and world-weariness of the characters or the ever-so-gentle skewering of the world through Breathed’s eyes.

Wow. I get that things take time to get around the ‘net, but this happened over the summer. Like, the middle of July. I’m surprised NPR just noticed. That said, I’m glad it’s back, too. I blame Donald Trump.
I think I’ll take a dandelion break now.
The unfortunate part is that the “Go Comics” archive is a week behind. And even then, I don’t think you’re going to see them all.
So if you really want to see it, you’ve got to chase after it on Facebook every day.

Oh. That’s at least easier to check up on than Facebook. I miss the days when RSS seemed to be winning dated content, though. 🙂
I used to think of “Bloom County” as the addled spawn of “Doonesbury” and “Shoe,” nine months after a particularly excessive weekend neither of them want to remember.
