Why would you care? A series of videos have been making the rounds claiming that the Samsung version of the iPhone 6s processor runs hotter and has poorer battery life than the processor manufactured by TSMC.

As I read through the post, my reaction was, I’d like to see more scientific testing before we scream fire. Is it possible this is a problem with just one or two phones/chips? Is this issue restricted to the 6s, or does it carry over to the 6s Plus as well?

So The Loop has get in on the click bait silliness. Sigh. Pretty soon we’ll have #processorgate from people who magically start having issues with their phones after they download one of these apps and discover they have a Samsung chip. Sigh.
Got the app last night, and it’s still on my phone. Fortunately, I have the “good” chip.
How’d you get the manufacturer of the chip? Best I can tell, the app you linked doesn’t show that information.
I had my 6s a few days before getting my wife one. While setting up her phone I noticed it was significantly hotter than mine had ever been. And not just a little warmer; it actually worried me it was so warm. She hasn’t paid attention to battery life and I haven’t tried any side by side testing. I downloaded the battery memory app and sure enough she has the Samsung chip and I have TSMC. It might be a coincidence but…where there’s smoke there’s usually fire.
