Apple responds to A9 chip battery life

Apple’s statement:

With the Apple-designed A9 chip in your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, you are getting the most advanced smartphone chip in the world. Every chip we ship meets Apple’s highest standards for providing incredible performance and deliver great battery life, regardless of iPhone 6s capacity, color, or model.

Certain manufactured lab tests which run the processors with a continuous heavy workload until the battery depletes are not representative of real-world usage, since they spend an unrealistic amount of time at the highest CPU performance state. It’s a misleading way to measure real-world battery life. Our testing and customer data show the actual battery life of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, even taking into account variable component differences, vary within just 2-3% of each other.

  1. Hope they shift away from Samsung for good soon. This is a good 1st step for them to move away but I know Samsung have the better yield for their custom chips so only time will tell 🙁

  2. The FUDsters are having their way with AAPL sentiment, and I blame the media for not holding the miscreants accountable.

  3. Both my wife and I have iPhone 6s Plus. Mine has Samsung, my wife has TSMC. Except in benchmark settings or in extreme case where battery would deplete (which is very rare), I doubt we will ever notice the difference.

    Having said that, f Samsung.

  4. Haha agreed. I really don’t think there’s a huge difference but I would definitely prefer Less sarnsugngngnsngs in my hand !
