We don’t believe in having one operating system for both mobile and PCs. Like Microsoft,” he said. “We think it [detracts] from both. We have no intention to blend them.”
Tim said a lot of interesting things during his chat, but this is clearly a highlight comment. Tim made it clear that OS X has a future (good to know, especially on the eve of El Capitan’s release) and he also took a tiny swipe at Microsoft (Windows on everything).

We have three Surface Pro 3 demo units (never asked for them, came as “please try and tell us what you think”). Everybody who has tried them so far could easily explain why Cook is right. And nobody needed more than a week to return them with some adult comments.
Cook’s fridge and toaster comment was spot on. These things are lousy laptops (bad keyboard, abysmal trackpad, consuming far too much space on the table – more than a 15″ laptop, unusable on the lap) and useless tablets (no apps, touch support in Windows 10 is pathetic and incomplete). Windows 10 is a decent desktop OS, but the (namesake) 10 different GUI styles included and the bolted on touch support make it worse, not better.
No idea why Apple copied that cover keyboard idea though… The few people really wanting a keyboard for the iPad Pro will likely be better served with solutions like Zagg’s – freely adjustable screen angles and backlit keys are a must, not an option.
