Oh Samsung

Walk along the bedraggled queue of people, and pillows and discarded bottles of water bore the same bright blue color and were emblazoned with the hashtag #NextIsNew.

“They were given to us by Apple,” a person in queue told International Business Times. A friend of his, however, was a little more savvy, quietly informing him: “No man, it was Samsung, I did a little research.”

What the fuck is wrong with this company? Instead of these types of stunts, why not try to build a better product—that philosophy is the one thing they haven’t copied from Apple.

  1. I think that they think that they can get a free ride on the back of any Apple event by pulling this sort of cheap stunt. On the plus side more marketing money down the drain.

At some point this will have to stop, they don’t have deep enough pockets to do this forever.

  2. While these stunts are pathetic, their top devices pretty much make the most out of Android and whatever they try, even if it is not bad like split screen in their tablets, it simply never takes off, as there is no developer support for anything.

In the last week I had around 80 app updates supporting new iOS 9 features, every single app I depend on has Spotlight integration, split view and slide over support etc. almost from day one. With Android you get the OS update months later, if at all, and new feature support after years or never. That is why they can’t keep the high end alive while the Chinese competition is taking over the budget category. Stunts is all they can try. Of course it will fail.

  3. Gotta disagree on that last point. Samsung has deep pockets. They can do this forever. The hope is that the rest of the company will eventually notice and stop the bleeding.

  4. It’s the quarter over quarter falls in both revenues and profits, as you say someone is eventually going notice.
