uBlock, a Ghostery alternative

It’s not nearly as comprehensive as Ghostery (which excels at blocking trackers), but it does catch a few things Ghostery does not (like YouTube ads). I actually run those two in parallel on a daily basis with no issues. Best of both worlds.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation recently released an ad/tracker blocker too https://www.eff.org/privacybadger
It’s better if you use “Deny by default” mode for uBlock and only whitelist what you need. This will work better than Ghostery because there’s no list you have to keep updated all the time, only the list you’ve defined yourself.
However, for cross-platform needs, something like Privoxy will work better.
Well, I’m not using it. Their website has too little information about it for me to dare hit the “download” button.
Their FAQ is about only a single “question” that I doubt is asked frequently: A question about the difference between uBlock and a forked version, uBlock Origin. It’s a very in depth answer. Sadly I’d prefer to see something more in depth about uBlock itself, as opposed to open source politics.
…which doesn’t work with Safari.
