Releasing classic albums on reel-to-reel, duplicated from the original master tapes.
You would expect these tapes to sound good of course, and you should expect they would sound better than the LP and digital sources. But you will be shocked at just how much better they do sound.
This is just outstanding. They are having an event at the California Audio Show to meet Jacqui Naylor, and listen to a full-playback of a new Tape Project release from Jerry Garcia and David Grisman.

Sorry – sounds like total, utter bullshit to me.
I was a studio engineer in the magnetic tape days. There’s nothing like qmaster. But, once removed copy is not a master. Digital sounds as good.
The signal chain is a lot more than the source tape. Personally, I always thought that tape sounded like crap. Not to mention, dbx or not, dolby or not. Tape has a lower noise threshold than digital. S
That being said, Garcia/Grisman was always fun.o, hiss is going to be apparent from the get go.
