“The writing has long been on the wall for any premium Android maker: as soon as low end hardware became ‘good enough,’ there would be no reason to buy a premium brand,” said Ben Thompson, an analyst at Stratechery.com in Taipei.
That’s a great quote from Ben, and so true.
A question and a thought:
Q) How significant are phones to Samsung’s total picture? I mean, they still make a terrific refrigerator. They’re a big company, but I always see their stock or future directly linked to phone sales.
T) Sticking with Android might be a mug’s game, but what’s the alternative? Who’s buying phones that aren’t iOS, Android, or Windows? I can see someone new coming in at some point, riding the wave of a killer feature. But I can’t see Samsung doing it.
You answered your own question with the thought. Back to refrigerators.
They had “glamour?!”
By Ben’s completely flawed reasoning, Apple’s iPhone 5c should be outselling all other iPhone models.
