When I think of the master pitch, I think of Steve Jobs. I’ve never seen anyone pitch like him. Jobs could sell anything, wrapped in that reality distortion field of his.
But normal people, like you and me, can do things to improve our convincing skills. The linked post dissects an Elon Musk pitch, laying out the elements that make it so effective.
Read the post. Pitch better.
Even Steve Jobs had his limits. One word…
Socks.
I read he article, I read the comments.
I left thinking these are narcissistic people hell bent on selling you something… anything!
This is not was Steve Jobs and Apple was about.
It wasn’t just about selling you “something”, there was (is) a passion, and with good reason.
Trying to turn it into a formula won’t help those who don’t truly believe in what they are doing.
Those that truly believe in what they are doing don’t need a formula.
I was about to write the same thing. You summed it up nicely @disqus_hqRUkfPgz6:disqus. Jobs might have been able to sell anything to anyone, but he didn’t – he only sold products he truly believed heart and soul in. I’ve always chaffed at the term reality distortion field because Jobs never pitched pipe dreams. He (and the rest of the company) pitched real products that solved real needs that sometimes people didn’t even know existed. Calling it a reality distortion field a sign of a lazy and jealous critic.
