The other night, I checked out the “New” section of Apple Music. Like usual, I switched to the Metal section—when it loaded, I thought for sure someone at Apple was punking me. To be clear, I’m not saying this is a problem, I thought it was funny as hell. I closed the app, reopened and everything was fine. Still funny.
Sadly Apple Music is not for metalheads. Most metal bands are labeled as rock or alternative, band bios are a joke, They need a proper curator there. And that’s only the beginning, as a metalhead I see Apple Music as a major fail. Though flawed, Rdio all the way.
meanwhile Korn has been subtly mixed into the Classical fold.
Punked or bug?
I have similar experiences with genres other than current pop / hiphop. And don’t get me started on music outside of US and UK. Oh boy… Other services suck on that too though. And how about those ‘For you’ recommendations? I get nothing but US/UK nostalgia. Is it because of my age?
