Cancelling Spotify and Rdio

It only took a couple of days using Apple Music for me to decide to cancel my Spotify and Rdio accounts. The process of cancelling went pretty smooth for both, although there were some problems for some Spotify subscribers who couldn’t get their subscriptions cancelled. I’m keeping Pandora for now, just in case Apple Music screws up for some reason, but I’m liking it so far.

  1. I’m enjoying Music as well, but I’m not quite ready to cancel my spotify subscription – I’ve had it for so long it’s quite familiar. And, I really like that they are constantly updating it with improvements.
I’m concerned Music will not be updated at a similar pace.
I personally like the speed at which the songs play on Spotify – I’ve seen up to a 5 second lag on Music. And I think I like Spotify’s interface a bit more intuitive and easier to navigate playlist, with the gestures for adding to a queue and such. I’ve also seen some instances where surprisingly Music didn’t have the same music available when I was trying to match up my playlists. They all say 30 million songs.. but I guess not the same 30million across the board. I am however enjoying Beats1 — and I’m surprised a bit by that. In the end though – I’m sure I’ll have a subscription to Music as I like to stay with Apple.

  2. I’m keeping my Spotify subscription during the three month Music trial. I really want to evaluate it over a period of time before I make the switch.

  3. Not so fast. I have big playlists in Spotify that I have no way of transferring over to Apple Music. If I can’t transfer them there’s no way I’m switching. Apple Music isn’t unique enough for me to waste time trying to re-create all my playlists. Plus I was never a heavy iTunes user so I’m not really missing out on much there.

  4. Remember the time you discovered on the radio Elvis, Bruce Springsteen or the Kinks? Well that time is back. AppleMusic reinventing the radio.

  5. I postpone subscribing Spotify to check out Apple Music. Now I’m sure I won’t subscribe to it. Don’t want to listen to Beat 1 then go to Spotify to make playlists. Everything in one place has a value in itself.

That’s not Apple fault. Spotify just want to lock you in.

  7. I just use the free with adverts Spotify to preview stuff to buy. The issue for me with Apple Music is that it constantly buffers on my very slow adsl line (max 2 Mb). Spotifys lower bitrate works fine though. For many of us in rural areas with crap connectivity it’s a real issue.

  8. Apple Music will change stream according to connection. The problem is.. people tend to judge quality of the service on “the first few days”, which isn’t fair. When iTunes Radio first launched the sound was so bad. And the stream was stuttered periodically. In the end it’s pretty good and very smooth. Give Apple engineers time to fine tune the service.

  9. i’ll be keeping Spotify until SONOS adds Apple Music Service. I cannot believe they didn’t beta test with Apple to have it ready on day one…
