He is kinda an A** about his former bandmates though

“I used metal picks — they’re brass and copper — which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer,” he says. “Plus, I basically live in a recording studio that’s filled with electromagnetic energy. So that’s one theory. I mean, I was smoking and doing a lot of drugs and a lot of everything. But at the same time, my lungs are totally clear. This is just my own theory, but the doctors say it’s possible.”
Wow, that’s some deep denial.
His talent at guitar is far and away overshadowed by what a drunken asshole he is, and his ability to destroy not one, but two (essentially) bands.
Edward Van Halen: prick. Love his guitar playing – or at least that which he did before he drank away all his potential – but man, what an asshole.
Can someone explain to me exactly when we passed through the looking glass and entered a world where Yngwie Malmsteen is humble, self-deprecating, and apologizes to people for his youthful arrogance… while Edward Van Halen is a bitter spiteful old egotist who seems to spend his days making lists of people he holds grudges against?
