Several celebrities like Katy Perry, Drake, and Pharrell Williams have been spotted with the gold Apple Watch Edition ahead of the device’s launch, but Apple gifted designer Karl Lagerfeld with something even more special — a custom gold Apple Watch with a gold Link Bracelet.
I checked and FedEx didn’t leave one of these at my door.
Yet Jim. Not yet…
I’m outraged. I personally saw (on the internet) Tim Cook talking to a “well-bearded man” about his upcoming solid platinum gift Edition and band…
Finally Apple has jumped the shark. Starting with Watch Apple now has elite customers and second class customers. Im the latter, i have to wait for 4-6 weeks. I’m the sucker. Thanks Tim & Angela, I love you too!
you dont seem to get it. apple doesnt give celebrities free swag because Cook believes they’re better human beings. celebrities get free stuff because they command and audience. you know, thousands or millions of followers. the gifts become mindshare…aka marketing.
and apple’s been doing it for decades. heres Jobs giving the original Macintosh to celebrities:

…so get over it, and yourself.
Why Karl Lagerfeld? He’s the last of the stereotypical fey, over-wrought, Eurotrash fashion designers (fans AND fingerless gloves? PLEASE!). His stuff has been stale and/or derivative for years. And it’s not like he’s a got much to say to the people who buy Apple products. Someone like Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, or Stella McCartney would seem to make a lot more sense to me.
Did they “gift” (“give”, as decent English puts it) him the band?
Nothing in the actual report suggests so; I wouldn’t be surprised if Lagerfeld commissioned or otherwise paid for it.
Apple doesn’t need to recruit people like Lagerfeld by throwing that kind of stuff at them, after all.
You’re going to have to wait a lot more than 4-6 weeks for a solid gold band, since Apple doesn’t really make one as part of its product line.
It says it was “specially made” by Apple.
And I’m betting they’d make you one if you have them $50,000 or so.
