Tim’s watch has a red dot on the crown. I wonder whether that’s a personal touch that the just the CEO gets, or if that helps mark the watch as having some kind of beta features. Or makes sure it doesn’t get confused with someone else’s; like a security feature.
Made me laugh. Yes, I’m sure when the 1895 New York Sun reported on Ulysses Grant meeting with Mark Twain, it went like, “the general met with a well-mustachioed man…”
Hilarious, but also typical of CNBC boneheads not to know who Jim Dalrymple is.
wow, that is indeed a “well bearded man”.
btw., is that the prototype of their next wearable, the Apple Beard, i’m hearing so much about? i can already hear Jony Ive talking about it.
Can’t say I blame them, but that was funny.
Maybe he’s been snacking on Twizzlers.
Apologies to Billy Gibbons. “Every girl’s crazy ’bout a well-bearded man”
Aren’t you going to tell us what Tim, you and Rene were laughing about?
Respect for the beard! Any idea if Tim’s watch is the 42mm version?
I mean, c’mon Jim…you are notably QUITE “well bearded” heheheh
Marvel take note! We have a new superhero! Well bearded man!
Screen pulses RED when well bearded men approach ….
I’m an Apple stockholder and analyst, how come I know who Jim Dalrymple is?
I look forward to trying the upcoming Apple Beard. But maybe I’ll wait on buying until the Apple Beard Air is released.
Ignorant CNBC comment about a “guy wearing a surgical mask for some reason”. A person with a mask, pale complexion and no hair clearly look like they are going through chemotherapy. They have to wear a germ mask in a large crowd to avoid getting very sick e.g. the Apple Watch launch day mosh pit. Stanford U is close to the Palo Alto Apple Store where people come from around the world for cancer treatment. To top it off they have no clue who Jim D. is. Maybe CNBC should consider hiring reporters with a brain who can think on their feet?
Gold! We need a ‘Well Bearded Man’ T-shirt or meme now…
Agreed! “Well-Bearded Man Says Nope” under Jim’s physiognomy!
That’s a shirt I would buy!
I’m waiting for the Apple Beard Air.
Because you pay attention.
You are the Tops, stsk!
Because you’re on this site?
Sorry, but with all due respect to Jim, he’s not nearly well-known enough to have even a minority of people aware of who he is. It’s odd you believe them to be “boneheads” because they don’t. I don’t think a SINGLE person I know in real life would know. The only reason I do is because I obsessively follow Apple news, and have come across this blog.
I don’t think they are boneheads for not knowing who Jim is. They are not a part of the Apple press and Jim is a writer, not a TV personality. We know who he is because we follow his site and probably on Twitter.
Also, I don’t think it’s fair to call them boneheads when they described him in such a nice way. I bet one of Jim’s patented raucous laughs escaped when he heard that 🙂
Serious Q: Does Cook travel with security? For the CEO of the most valuable company on the planet, he’s pretty damned important, and being surrounded by hordes of people seems like a bit of a risk, especially seeing that there’s nuts out there who truly believe Cook is “destroying” Apple. What if someone pulls out a knife?
Nope.
By that time wouldn’t they have referred to him, not as general, but as president?
I don’t agree that all reporters should know who Jim is, but I totally agree on the surgical mask comment. How stupid is this reporter? Good God. It’s like a freaking four year old – “Mommy, why does that man have no hair?” You can forgive a four year old because they don’t know any better. Hopefully someone at CNBC chews his sorry ass out for this comment.
Wow. He needs to start. Not because of nutjobs who don’t like his choices with Apple products, but because of nutjobs who have a problem with the fact that he’s openly gay AND heading the most successful company in the world. Not to mention terrorists who’d love to make headlines by taking out such a high profile person.

But he said he’s wearing a steel watch.

Freaking Jim Rome has bodyguards.
