“that phone looks huge!! i’m gonna need to get me some bigger pockets”
“How do they deal with us?”
Ed Zander, CEO & Chairman of Motorola

Not everyone was an asshat.
“The iPhone will be a blockbuster. Sales will steadily increase and top 45 million annually in 2009.” – Gene Munster, Analyst
Note: it actually took until 2010 to hit 45 million/year. I think that’s a pretty good estimate.
“Apparently none of you guys realize how bad of an idea a touch-screen is
on a phone. I foresee some pretty obvious and pretty major problems
here.”
Funny, since by 2007 I’d already had two different PocketPC handhelds.
Now, they kinda sucked – but that was because Windows CE/PocketPC was a sub-par platform, and the battery and display tech wasn’t great in 2005 and before.
But the touch screen was great, and the moment I saw the iPhone demo I knew it was the future, and the next phone I’d buy.
(I got a 3GS because of where I was on my contract cycle with my then-current phone.)
I hope I’ve never been one of those people who yelled “get a horse.”
Makes me think of this great skit from Mad TV way back when. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71jB2hxOCFw
Apologies, I couldn’t find a better quality vid.
Here’s another winner from the link:
