This is a fantastic idea. Apple started by scrounging the internet, looking for candidates for its Shot on iPhone 6 campaign. Some incredibly beautiful shots there. Great composition, crisp colors, wonderful lighting, all do a great job showing off the iPhone 6 camera.
Next up, take some of the best of the best and hang them on the sides of buildings. And not just any buildings, but big buildings, some of them giant skyscrapers. Follow this link to see this for yourself. Pretty cool.
How can I nominate photos to be inluded in the world gallery?
This is like 1925 when the Leica took off and made 35mm a viable platform. Everyone poo-pooed the idea of such a tiny chip of film being able to produce usable pictures.
Andre Kertesz used to have to process his photos at home and make big prints and bring them in to the magazines and lie that they were shot on 4×5 cameras before the magazines would take the father of candid photography seriously (Cartier-Bresson said, “Ketersz taught us to see.”).
I have been poo-pooing the idea of phone cameras every competing with serious cameras. And yes, my fiancée’s iPhone 6 is making fantastic photos. Much nicer than my 5s (which is no slouch).
Time to wake up and use the camera recognizing its strengths and weaknesses I guess.
Excellent post. Thank you.
