Apple has determined that a small percentage of MacBook Pro systems may exhibit distorted video, no video, or unexpected system restarts. These MacBook Pro systems were sold between February 2011 and December 2013.
More information is available from Apple’s Web site.
I wonder if this is the same chip I had in my 2011 iMac?
It died on me 188 days out of warranty but I took it into the local Mac store and they determined it was a graphics issue and therefore the repair was free. Had to wait a few days, but now have a fully functioning iMac again.
Unfortunately, I have a mid-2010 MBP that has the same issues. Guess I’m out of luck.
I have gone to the Apple Store 3 times with this issue, only to have them tell me there is nothing they can do if they couldn’t reproduce the problem right then and there. Vindication at last.
Also want to point out my newer 13″ MBP-RD has a similar issue. Restarts during sleep mode or video does not return.
