Petapixel:
Unlike other affordable photo-editing apps out there, which are usually dumbed down offerings with only a subset of Photoshop’s usefulness, Affinity Photo is trying to set itself apart by offering the power of Photoshop in a program that’s blazing fast and ridiculously affordable.
Looks very interesting and for free, there’s no harm in giving it a try.
The beta is free. “When the program leaves beta testing and officially launches, it will be available through the Mac App Store for $50 with no subscription charges and free updates for two years.”
If the icon is anything to go by, it’s a little low quality.
I’ve been pretty impressed with their vector-based application- especially for $40. Little different workflow, but still solid work. I’m happy to see a Ps competitor from them as well.
It’s not free. It’s a beta. I tested their Designer program, and it was very competent.
CMYK workflow will be an intriguing Photoshop competitor.
