Apple Inc. halted online sales of its products in Russia due to “extreme” ruble fluctuations, showing how the currency’s swings are rippling out to international businesses.
The iPhone and iPad maker stopped sales from its Web store as Russia’s currency lost as much as 19 percent today.
Not good news for Russian Christmas shoppers, among others.
Russians are well versed with the Black Market to get what they need. They may be hurting, but they know how to survive.
As an russian customer, I am sad. For example: iPhone 6 16GB (not a Plus) was a 697.59 $ on Russian Apple Online Store. 6 Plus 16 GB —819.67 $. 16 GB! Guess how much 32 and 64 was. Personaly, I can’t afford one.
It’s definitely sad to be not only a customer in Russia, but most of all being a citizen of this country. Nevertheless it’s good to hear that sanctions and other means undertaken to stop Russian aggression actually start to work.
Perhaps this will give Putin an excuse to annex the Sudetenland. What’s Russian for “lebensraum“?
And now, App Store prices are doubled. 🙁
