Plaintiffs in the iPod/iTunes anti-trust case are morons

For fuck sakes, the plaintiffs didn’t even own eligible iPods to bring the $350 million lawsuit.

  1. I’m still not sure what they expect to find. That Apple should have supported Real’s unlicensed and possibly illegal use of their FairPlay technology? What possible negative outcome for Apple could come from this exactly, any ideas?

  2. They aren’t morons…they’re greedy scumbags who go after any deep pocketed target they can find. I bet they simply can’t believe that Apple hasn’t settled yet.

  3. There will be new plaintiffs found and the suit will move forward.

The merits of this suit leave me scratching my head.

  4. Couldn’t be too much of a violation. Considering it was rendered moot many, many years ago.

Also, plaintiffs with standing? Ha, they’re just stooges for the trial lawyers. The vast majority of the class this lawsuit is on behalf of either doesn’t know of the suit, or care about it.

It’s unlikely the class (outside of the stooges) would profit much if there’s a settlement or verdict. (I’m setting an over/under at a $10 iTunes gift certificate) While any verdict will likely include hefty fees for the lawyers (Over/Under: $1 million)

Though class action suits can and occasionally do serve valid purposes, all too often they are a means for lawyers to practice their trade without actually having to answer to clients.
