TidBITS:
OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite has been out for a bit now and while it is working fine for many people, there are still a variety of complaints making the rounds on the Internet. Here then is a collection of five problems and solutions (or at least workarounds) that we’ve either experienced or had reported to us.
Not all of these will be applicable to everyone but some might help speed things up for you.
I consider the backup/restore process listed last as part of my upgrade. It’s not necessary for most, but given that I often have a developer preview running by the time a final release comes out it makes sense for me.
I’m not saying you should do it every time you upgrade. Apple’s upgrade code is usually great. But if you have major performance problems or other troubles, you should do it overnight. (You do have good backups, right? You should.) Because it almost always works. A clean install pretty much eliminates every edge case the installer could hit, short of bad hardware or drive.
For me Yosemite is the most glitchy Mac OS so far. I’ve been on Mac since Tiger.
Most annoyingly – got many new problems after clean install.
Really hoping for a “snow Yosemite”…
