I totally agree with Gruber here. Flooding the App Store with one-star reviews because a company needs to make money is wrong.
Cheapskate morons

Anybody who whinged about the $1.99 Forgotten Shores chapters aren’t even good enough to be wankers. They are “tuggers” – wanker wannabes.
I’ve pretty much stopped playing games on my iOS devices for various reasons immaterial to this post. But I bought Monument Valley and the Forgotten Shores in-app purchase only to stand with ustwo against the cheapskate morons and to leave a five-star review.
I hate this new era of expecting awesome software to be free forever. If we don’t make it worthwhile for good iOS developers to write good iOS software, we’ll just be left with crap. Sadly, I’m afraid it’s already too late and that we’re already too far down that road with no way back.
I just bought the game based on this idiocy.
same: started with snell’s site, then gruber’s. end result, i went and bought a game i’d not been interested in, tried it out, bought the add-on, went to the app store, and gave it a 5 star rating.
also, it’s a very nice game and worth those 5 stars. nice work, developers.
Where the hell has this sense of entitlement sprouted from? I believe the same ‘outcry” was heard when the folks who make TweetBot asked for payment for the iOS versions.

Shady, very shady.
I thought this was the holy land of money spenders though! 😉
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. 🙂 Touché.
When I see crap like that I go flag the review as unhelpful. If enough folks do that hopefully they will get removed
I do the same thing on “reviews” that are gripes about not being able to rent a movie etc
But Nintendo definitely needs to sell its games on that platform, right, Jim? Because it’s so great for developers, and they make so much money on it!
I had already bought the game, but this made me buy the extra levels and leave a 5-star review. Let’s hope the backlash of sanity drowns out the over-entitled crybabies.

The entitlement generation, where nothing is worth paying for. The problem with this mentality, is that what goes around, comes around. Today you are cheap and want stuff for free, tomorrow you will have to work hard only to attempt to please those that are unwilling to pay for your work. The circle of entitlement = no body wins.
It is. Your point? Aside form simply adding one more snide comment to your long list of snide comments?
potmeetkettle 😉
My point has always been iOS users are no different than Android or Windows or ________. That’s trumpeted often but these sort of stories keep landing proving all of these feathers in the “iOS is the best” to be wrong. (not that iOS isn’t the best, that’s subjective per person, but those arguments are fodder)
but your point is wrong. as we’ve seen published several times, iOS users spend more and use their devices to buy things more. i know that tears you up inside, but you can’t change it. while there are more android activations in the wild, lots of them don’t do shit. they’re the new default of mobile OSes…not necessarily being used for much.
Alrighty. 😀 If that makes you feel better, awesome.
(thx for proving my second point)
whatever you need to tell yourself to get around the facts — iOS users spend more.
troll on.
Cool beans.
Seriously, pretty weak. You can troll better than that.
Not trolling. Just saying. You can’t complain about users being cheap on your platform and claim iOS users aren’t cheap.
I know so many people that won’t pay anything for applications or games anymore. Just expect it for free. I like getting paid for doing work. Happy to pay someone else for doing work. I believe this spiral to the bottom will have a detrimental long term effect on the gaming industry, and to a lesser extent the general software industry.
I can’t recall who it was but they hipped me to the thinking of not banking on app finances to sustain rather supplement with a paid online service. Money still flows there for sure.
Not complaining. Just saying. Pretty weak, limp wristed trolling.
By the way, I write lots of code for Android which makes it “my platform”. Android users are tighter than a frog’s ass.
LOL. People are. <- my point
They aren’t better on either.
