I wish I could embed this video, but since I can’t, follow the link to check out Honda’s incredibly clever new marketing campaign video. To me, it’s not at all about the product (the supercharged Honda Civic Type R) or the plot of the video, but about the delivery mechanism.
When the page loads, play the video. If you press and hold the R key at any time during the video, you’ll immediately switch to a perfectly matched alternate view which tells a completely different story. Press and release R as you like to instantly shift back and forth. Incredibly well done.
That is amazing! Thanks. (Going back to play with it again.)
turbocharged.
OK…that is insanely cool….
Well, I can’t experience that awesomeness, Firefox automatically load the search bar, searching for “r”.
I think Danny Boyle would approve.
Whatever agency did this clearly understands the new realities of advertising.
I only hope the actors’ residuals are on a per-view basis.
I had to turn off Ghostery’s blocking of some tracking Javascripts for it to work.
I don’t use Ghostery. Whatever letter you type on Firefox automatically trigger a search query. You don’t have to do the keyboard shortcut ctrl/cmd+f anymore. It’s faster but it can also be a problem as in this case.
Google has a lot of these shortcuts (in Google+ the letter J moves you to the next post in your stream) but they work on Firefox, without launching the search bar.
Arrrrrr!
Hmm… I don’t see anything amazing; just annoying engine noise and flickering series of chaotic images. Pressing the “R” simply makes the clip pause. It certainly makes me want to avoid Hondas!
