Glenn Fleishman talks through the changes Yosemite brings to Wi-Fi. To start off, hold down the option key and click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar. More detail, right? Some of that is pre-Yosemite, some new to Yosemite. Now hover over a network name and check out the tooltip that appears.
Lots of great detail here.
At the risk of sounding nastier than I mean to…
I love what Tidbits does, and I appreciate how enormously busy they must keep themselves. And I’d visit and read the site more often than I do, if only it didn’t look so cluttered, dated, and downright unattractive.
The people who Tidbits are ace reporters and top-notch teachers, but it appears that their CMS is locked in some sort of mid-90s municipal portal.
No aspersions intended. I just want them to present their excellent content better.
This feature has pretty much always been a part of OS X. Nothing new here.
So some of it isn’t new to Yosemite as they say?
I agree. I do not get why they have not updated their CMS and templates sense the 1990’s There content is quite good but can get lost on the dated design. Also I am sure that their site does not dynamically resize for the various mobile screen sizes. Something that any good designed website would do.
Nope, no responsive design on that site that I can see, but there is at least a “reader” version of each article.
I can’t imagine they’re unaware of this issue.
They have to be aware of the issue but it must not be a priority. I am taking a guess that they have just gotten used to how it works and how to manage it.
That seems unlikely to me, considering the business they’re in.
It includes COUNTRY CODE in the tooltip? Omg this is awesome. Will be very useful for naming and shaming people who run rogue access points in another country. http://kernelmag.dailydot.com/features/report/8051/the-mystery-of-wifi-channel-14/
