SRV finally nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

It’s a crime that it took them so long to nominate Stevie.

  1. Agreed. Does anybody have any insight about their nomination process? I mean, Stevie Ray Vaughan is certainly not the first artist that was forgotten for over a decade. E.g. it took them almost three decades to learn about David Bowie. And looking at this year’s list, containing artists like Chic and Joan Jett… it seems like they have been living under a rock (no pun), even the NIN nomination is way late.

  2. What? If you had told me Stevie Ray Vaughan wasn’t already in the hall of fame I would have called you a liar. I was tenuously connected to the rock industry in San Francisco when the decision on the Hall of Fame location was down to SF or Cleveland. Naturally, everyone in SF was incensed when Cleveland won. I’d like to think this never would have happened if it went to San Francisco.

  3. It’s like with Rush or David Bowie. There are many in the hall of fame who aren’t rock musicians or haven’t influenced rock music in any way and have no business there while many of the biggest talents of many generations are ignored.

Stevie Ray Vaughan should have been in there ages ago.

  4. I think it’s because the blues has fallen into disrespect. It’s “old music” in the minds of so many.
