So, the next big thing to complain about is here: Hairgate. One of the community articles on 9to5Mac talks about people getting their hair caught in the iPhone 6—I don’t even know what to say about this shit.
I’ve been using the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus since before they were even released to the public. If anyone should have problems with hair getting caught while talking on the iPhone, you would think it would be me. I don’t. On either device.
Jesus people, get a life.
Luckily, Christina Warren at Mashable did some scientific research and proved Hairgate isn’t a thing.
I could believe a tiny proportion of phones have a manufacturing defect letting them catch a beard hair in an improperly fitted seam.
The solution is not #whatevergate, it’s “take it to the Apple Store and get it replaced”.
Yes, I think they’re all labeled Samsung Galaxy Note 4. 🙂
Apple’s warranty should offer free haircuts for life /s
To those who are complaining, please have someone read the following to you:
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” ― Albert Einstein
Arthur C Clarke: “The amount of intelligence in the universe is finite. Unfortunately, the population keeps increasing.”
Naw, Apple Stores won’t replace those.
At least, not for free as a warranty/suitability issue.
I have hair. I have an iPhone 6. I hadn’t even heard about that… gosh people, get a life!
Why not investigate the Samsungquarterearnigsdisastrousfall instead…
Ha! I was in the car with my wife and I was “playing” with my phone, dragging it over my stubble when I painfully snagged a hair. I tried it again and sure enough, I could regularly (and painfully) snag my beard. I told my wife I could be internet famous as I just discovered a “gate”.
We laughed.
I would not be the least bit surprised if Samsung or some other competitor is pushing this. With bend gate, that ad Samsung put out with the iPhone bending in front of a Samsung phone came out a little too quickly. It takes time even with rush jobs to get this stuff together. Easy way to diminish the glow of a successful launch is to “create” a problem, pay people to twitter and have someone go and bend a iPhone, at great effort, and put it up on YouTube.
Just a thought
Maybe you should check the source of those *gates. Who is interested in those *gates affecting Apples iPhone sales? Who benefits? It seems as it is meticulously organised. Now, as Bentgate is history, it is Hairgate time!
Hanlon’s razor: “Don’t attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by stupidity.”
Now I know why I have hair growing out of my ear 🙂
There’s a great corollary, though I forget what it’s called:
“Never attribute to stupidity that which can be adequately explained by indifference and apathy.”
Probably. Remember that Samsung did this with HTC build quality also and were famously fined

Enough with the gate shit. I wish Jobs was alive to tell these jackasses they’re holding it wrong.
Yeah. We all do.
There’s a reason Samsung’s marketing budget is so enormous.
9to5 mac is next to 9to5 google. Those androits fan love to start things and the press love to run with it.
It was a defensive move on the Note4 and its big gap.
I checked both sides. Apple people do not go to the google site to rant about anything. It is always the androits that cant stand a good word being said about Apple that begin ranting on every article. If they think that they ever will convince anyone that their wares are better, they arent, their tactics will turn those off.
Proof of this is found in not in #hairgate but in the attention give to it.

Tom’s Razor: If you shave, you can’t get your beard caught in a phone …
Okay, so when I read this post originally, I was clean-shaven, and chuckled. Now, I get my (still short) beard caught in my iPhone 6 once or twice a week. So, yeah, it’s kinda a thing, but not something that would keep me away from the iPhone.
