Microsoft gave notice to 2,100 employees on Thursday, 747 of those in the Seattle area, a company spokesman said. That is in addition to 13,000 laid off in July, which means a further 2,900 are set to be laid off over the next nine months or so.
I hate seeing people lose their jobs, especially when it’s caused by executive mismanagement.
I wish they’d lay off the cortana staff.. that would be a nice hire for Apple…
Especially when the regular folks leave with tiny severance pay, while the executives that mismanaged either stay on or leave with comfy golden parachutes.

Trimming down to simplify the business, yes. That’s needed.
But one hopes that a proportionate number of these layoffs are targeted at exactly that executive management. I have few hopes that higher-level execs would ever be considered as uselessly redundant as they actually are.
Microsoft’s management style is bad! I sure hope that they change their management style and layoff some of their redundant managers.
