The mobile version of Safari will now let you change the default search engine to DuckDuckGo, the privacy-obsessed Google alternative that has seen a sharp uptick in activity since Edward Snowden became a household name. By default, DuckDuckGo does not track its users’ search activity or even log their IP addresses.
Choice is always good and this is a pretty easy switch to make.
yeah, that´s great! It excited me, when it was announced for iOS 8. I allways try hard, not to use “big G”. So I switched my Safari to Yahoo or Bing. But not beeing tracked at all feels even better!
I already use Bing Search and Bing rewards.
I’ve been quite frustrated by DuckDuckGo’s search, especially when searching for something immediate, like the fact that you can’t get the past 1000 pictures from Photostream in iOS8 anymore, just the past 30 days. Searching for anything iOS8 brings up articles from July in DuckDuckGo while Google brings up forum posts from today and yesterday. While I agree with their premise, their results need to improve before I switch full time.
